The export volume of graphite electrode is expected to rise further and become a key factor to pull the production of graphite electrode in China to digest.

3. Environmental protection policies lead to tight supply of graphite electrodes

The iron and steel industry involves a series of processes, each process will go through a series of chemical and physical changes, while producing the required products, a variety of residues and waste will be discharged. Compared with iron ore steelmaking, steelmaking with 1 ton of scrap steel can reduce 1.6 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and 3 tons of solid waste emissions. With the successive release of China’s environmental protection policy, some provinces have made it clear that the energy consumption, environmental protection and safety of carbon and ferroalloy enterprises to which graphite electrodes belong will be limited or suspended according to the actual implementation of the relevant requirements.
